WIBDI and Samoa Tourism Authority host King Charles and Queen Camilla

On October 26, 2024, Women in Business Development Inc. (WIBDI), in collaboration with the Samoa Tourism Authority (STA), had the honor of hosting His Majesty King Charles III and Her Majesty Queen Camilla during their visit to Samoa for the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM). This monumental event allowed the royal couple to experience the vibrant essence of Samoan culture in a unique way. Although we couldn't take them to a traditional village, we brought the essence of the village to them, creating an unforgettable experience filled with the spirit of our island life.

During their visit, King Charles and Queen Camilla were captivated by various cultural activities. They witnessed the art of siapo making, traditional games, fine mat and hat weaving, fishing net sewing, woodcarving, and tattooing. Unfortunately, they were unable to witness Samoan food processing due to bad weather. This encounter not only highlighted the beauty of Samoan traditions but also created a memorable connection between the royal family and the local culture.

The following day, on October 27, the cultural village also had the pleasure of hosting the spouses of government heads, who enjoyed a similar cultural experience. This collaboration offered valuable exposure for WIBDI and its members, the Samoa Tourism Authority, the villages, church youth groups, and all the participants involved. The event marked an important moment in history, showcasing the warmth and hospitality of Samoa to world leaders.
